Head Rocks Whisky A Go Go

The first time I went to see a band at the Whisky A Go Go was last year. I went to check out Godhead and saw two opening bands DMT and Ironklad. I had a pretty good time there and ran into Shane Gibson, as you never know who's going to show up.

So I pick up Khris from Kornspace and we arrived there just as Orphues set ended. The next two bands up where DMT and Ironklad and I thought "what the hell? the same two bands must play here a lot!" I didn't mind since Ironklad puts on a pretty entertaining live show for an unsigned act. While waiting for Head's stage to be setup I talked to some of the opening bands. It turns out Ironklad hadn't played the Whisky since last time I was there. One of the other bands learned the hard way that some asshole in Hollywood walks around supergluing locks shut so they couldn't enter their bands trailer without a dremel.

The Whisky had twice as many people then it did when Godhead played. Head took the stage around 11:00 opening with Adonai rocking the house. Head sports braids again and red blood coming from his eyes looking like his image on the album cover. When the song ends Head mentions the sound check went okay but something isn't in key now and they have some technical issues. The setlist for the night was same before in Tempe but the stage here is smaller resulting in the band jamming closer together. The performance was heavy for Money and Rebel as you'd see at a Korn show. The guitars are really chunky live especially for those songs but the mood changes a bit for Save Me From Myself. Head tells the crowd you all know his story and he isn't here to preach. That at a gig in Texas only 58 people showed up and thought sometimes he questions what is he doing. But he goes on and isn't sure where he is going and audience relates to that and glad he is here then Save Me From Myself starts.

The technical gremlins hit again when Head would sing some synthesizer feedback was heard during SMFM during the beginning. Another time Head spoke to the crowd he mentioned he went to see Chi and how the insurance had cut Chi off. That Chi has came out of the coma but needs to get better with peoples support. Head had made his own custom Tshirts you can buy and all the money goes to Chi. Head also mentioned Fieldy is putting a song together for Chi. Another favorite of mine and it seemed the crowd was Die Religion Die where Head ends up laying on the stage transitioning into Washed by Blood. Head ended the set with Flush despite a few minor issues with the gear the night was perfect.
